Winner in Mayor's 2021 Garden Contest!
On Tuesday, August 24, Mayor Kim Janey presented the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park with the 2021 Garden Contest Second Place Award in the Storefront, Organization or Main Street District category for the Crescent Garden, which lies along the Harborwalk.

The Garden Contest is a citywide celebration of urban gardening.
Parks and Recreation Commissioner Ryan Woods emceed the event, which was held at the Suffolk University Law School because of rain. Terese O'Connell and Robyn Reed, Horticultural co-chairs, accepted the award from Mayor Kim Janey on behalf of FOCCP. Boston Chief of Environment, Energy and Open Spaces congratulated the group. FOCCP members Andi Pollinger, Ann Babbitt, Patricia Ableson, Joanne Hayes-Rines, Meredith Piscitelli, Terese, Robyn, Lew Gaffen attended the ceremony.
