Do You Love to Garden?
Volunteer in the Park's Gardens
The History of the Rose Kennedy Rose Garden:
The Rose Kennedy Garden was initially dedicated in 1987. In 2000 the Christopher Columbus Park was closed for redesign and reopened in 2003. During the park redesign the Rose Garden fell into disrepair. With a cooperative effort between the City Parks Department and the FOCCP Horticulture Volunteers the Rose Garden has been restored.
Keep your eyes out for these dedicated volunteers. They work in the gardens Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm and Sunday mornings at 9:30 am.
The Horticultural Crew is always looking for additional volunteers. Please contact us is you are interested in helping out in the gardens and can devote one hour per week (average), gloves and tools will be provided.
The Horticultural Volunteers
The plants and gardens in Christopher Columbus Park are kept so beautiful with the help of our Horticulture Volunteers.
They plant flowers, tend to the roses in the Rose Kennedy Rose Garden, weed, fertilize, and a whole lot more. We are lucky to have this dedicated group to assist with keeping the gardens so beautiful.
