Fundraising Volunteer Opportunities
The Fundraising Committee's primary responsibility is to organize the annual Friends of Christopher Columbus Park Gala.  This event represents the largest source of donations to the Park.  Each year approximately 400 friends, supporters and neighbors gather together for this fun event which includes a cocktail hour, silent auction, dinner and dancing.  The committee is organized into 4 teams which are described below.

Corporate Sponsor Team: This group of people contacts local businesses and organizations and solicits them to become a Corporate or Neighborhood Sponsor of the Park.  This is an important team that is active six months or so before the Gala to ensure a successful event.  We are always looking for additional Sponsors.  This is a group of fun and outgoing people that understands the importance of growing our Sponsorship.

Ticket Sales Team:  This team is responsible for tracking sales including Corporate sponsorships.  Sales are generated via a mailing, through the website and also through personal contacts.  This team also gets involved in making sure posters with details on the Gala are distributed and displayed in local stores and residential buildings.

Greeter Team:  This team is very busy the night of the Gala.  They welcome and check guests into the event and provide information such as the location of the coat check, silent auction and cocktail area.  This team does a great job making sure everyone feels welcome as soon as they arrive at the event.

Silent Auction Team: We usually have close to 50 items auctioned off the night of the event and this team is responsible for acquiring the donated items and running the silent auction through to the final awarding of the auction item to the highest bidder.  This team does a great job of collecting a unique variety of items from generous donators. As a result, the silent auction generates a substantial amount of money for the Park.
